Services

We are here to provide services to everyone— men and women, boys and girls of any age, race, sexual orientation, gender, income level, etc. If you have a question about sexual or reproductive health, you have a right to ask!

The main areas in which we offer services are listed below, but you can call us about any concern. If we can't help you ourselves, we will refer you to someone who can.

Due to a lack of funding, Sexual Health Centre Lunenburg County is closed during the summer months. See our Events Calendar for details.

What we do NOT do:

We're sorry. We do not yet have the facilities or resources to provide: Pap tests, STI tests, Birth Control, prescriptions, or other services requiring a doctor or nurse practitioner.

Outreach:

Lunenburg County is a widespread, rural area and many people can’t get to our office. We try to make sure there are other options for those who need our information and services.

For example, all of our SHIFT pamphlets are at the junior and senior high schools. We also have a school support program where students can ask their guidance counselor to set up an appointment or get information over the phone.

If a young woman can’t come to us for a pregnancy test, the school can arrange for a private room and make an appointment for us to come to her. The same can be done through another community organization.

Family Support Centre Outreach Site at the Buccaneer Bay/Heritage House apartments:

For people who live in BB/HH, our Health Educator will come to your Centre for counselling, education, or pregancy testing. Ask the Outreach Centre staff to arrange an appointment for an appropriate time.

School Outreach:

If you are a student who needs a pregnancy test, counselling, or other information, we can go to your school if you are unable to come to our office. Arrangements must be made through your school Guidance Counsellor or other school authority.

Other Options :

If you have a question, you can e-mail us at or use our contact form. Remember, we are only open part time, but we will get back to you as soon as possible. Or, you can always do it the old-fashioned way and call us or make an appointment for more personal service. We'd love to see you!
